Inspired by a recent motoring association TV commercial featuring members benefiting from having their own personal traffic reporter in the passenger seat. Lynn Bowles, the Queen of the morning Radio 2 travel news has taken up an invite to join Beds Herts and Cambs Land Rover Club as their celebrity navigator for next years Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge. The Mac 4x4 is a non-damaging long-distance four-wheel drive navigational event in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Relief fund starting in Hereford and covering approximately 1000 miles in the two days. Lynn's participation will help raise awareness of the event to a much wider audience and subsequently help boost sponsorship, all of which goes directly to Macmillan. Lynn will be training with the club over the winter and will be picking up the baton of navigating for Russ Brown as one of four BHCLRC teams competing in the event over the weekend of March 6th and 7th 2004. Keen on all things mechanical, Lynn passed her driving test in a Land Rover and recently passed her Advanced Driving Test, she also brings with her the added experience of having qualified as a member of a reserve Camel Trophy team some year's back. Lynn and Russ will be competing in a 1995 300Tdi Land Rover Defender. To hear how they get on keep an ear on the Sarah Kennedy show 6:00 to 7:30, or Ken Bruce show, 9:30 to 12:00 weekdays on Radio 2 To find out more about competing in or supporting the Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge there is a web site at www.mac4x4.co.uk or call Peter Rowland on 01981 252954 |
